Calligraphy and Lettering Art

(Clcik picture to enlanrge)

CREATIVE CLUTTER
IS BETTER THAN IDLE NEATNESS!

Well it's finally happened....the studio is a health risk! The shelves are packed to bursting, the cupboards won't close and the floor is littered with boxes....all full with MY WORK! Roughs and finished peices are everywhere. Why am I saving them? The time has come to have a hugh clearout and set up an Ebay shop to get rid of this stuff that's becoming more of a hazard as each day passes.
Much of the work has hung around since my teaching days. Some of it is work that has not quite worked out at the time, but then a chance glance, one realises it's not that bad afterall. It's time for it to move on and find another resting place. One where someone at least can get the pleasure from it.
I;m slowly (very slowly it seems) emptying the shelves one by one and sorting into 3 piles. 1 for finished or almost finished pieces, 1 with lettering tryouts that could have or should have worked and 1 pile for the bin! I have set up 2 journals one for layout and design ideas and 1 for lettering styles and ideas.
How did it ever get to this? Years ago when my sight enabled me to teach the pieces had to be in an orderly fashion and I used to have to be able to get my hands on stuff quickly, depending on the class I was teaching at the time.
I'm away for the weekend....but have started so I'll finish...perhaps early next week and my agenda is all ready set for the next 3 weeks.
Next week is finishing off the clearence and opening an ebay shop. The week after is filling my portfolios with samples and the 3rd week is getting my Wedding Portfolio finished. Here cometh Winter....BRING IT ON!
The picture above is just some (and I mean SOME) of the work I will have for sale.

Deefer and Simba

And these are my Dog Defer and the cat is Simba. Defer came from the Hull Spaniel Rescue centre from Steve a great guy who devotes his life to the rescue of all types of Spaniels. Simba is also a rescue and has put on a lot of weight since this picture was taken she now looks more like Garfield than Simba the lion king!

Sugar

This is Sugar....an old cat that came to me the night before bonfire night 3 years ago. She gets her name because she's white and VERY sweet.

Blue

This is Blue....yawning and very bored with the whole thing!

The Members of my Family

The first pictures is of my newest addition ‘Dodger’. A terrorist in his own right. He came to my house after other members of his family were either drowned by the farmer or shot by the game keeper. He came in with attitude…which is a blessing really because my girls would have killed him otherwise! lol. Here he is after running up the canvas wardrobe to try and make a pest of himself and scare ‘Blue’ out of her wits!

Baby Ambers Birth Gift

Baby Amber Louise my little neice came into this world at the end of last month. This is a piece of work that was made for her, which at the moment she won't appreciate...but hopefully in years to come she will.

The background is acrylic wash and the writing is Gouache. The background colours were Golden Yellow, warm browns and golds to reflect the colour and qualities of Amber.

Today's Creativity and Where It All Happens

Well here it is....my humble little studio, tucked away in North Yorkshire, England.

The door enters the gallery area and the far right window shows my workspace.

Today's creativity has amounted to 'digging out' the mess. I've decided that creativity grows from a workspace where you can actually 'FIND' things rather than have to spend the day endlesly searching for that lost item. Through a link from another BLOG I realised the wonders of the internet and decided to set up my own.

For anyone who looks at this...I hope you enjoy what you see and most of all I hope the pictures inspire you to create some unique artwork of your own.
